There is a possibility that some stores where you buy products give you the benefit of cashback; some stores give back a percentage of your purchase without charging any extra, and others ask for small fees to go through the process.
This way, while making the necessary purchases, we can save time without having to go to the ATM or a bank to withdraw cash. The usual thing to do in these cases is to find out what types of establishments allow this and how they do it, which varies depending on the store.
There are several establishments where we see this cashback option when paying with a debit card. Here are some examples:
Grocery store
Most stores can give you cashback when you pay with your debit card without using a credit card. The amount you get back will not be the same as what you can get from a cashier, but it will help you keep some cash available.
You can ask for part of the cash back when you are paid. Usually, the extra amount is included in the total bill to be given to you. There may be times when you are asked to pay an extra fee for the withdrawal, although this is not usual.
Some of the stores that do this are Walmart, Kroger, Albertsons, and Winn-dixie, among others. You can also ask the stores you visit if they offer this option.
Gas stations
These establishments can be found almost anywhere, and it is a place where they usually give cashback. Although these places usually give you back a minimal amount, approximately $5 or $10.
On the other hand, some gas stations do not have this option available, and others have ATM’s, which carry extra fees. Texaco, Phillips 66 and Conoco are gas stations that offer cashback.
Pharmacies
When you are purchasing drugs, you can request cashback. It is a way to do two things at once. Always ask them how the process works because it tends to vary depending on the establishment. Some pharmacies where you can find cash back are CVS and Walgreens.
Large stores
Some of the larger stores may allow cashback directly at the cash register; the usual is to ask about the procedure, so you don’t run into extra fees. Among the stores available are Staples, Costco, Kmart and others.
Sales and disadvantages of cashback
Using a debit card for purchases is something we all do; getting cashback is an additional advantage of this process.
Let’s consider the advantages and disadvantages before making this a regular practice. The positive aspects would be that it is a quick and easy way to get cash, saving us time at the cashier.
On the other hand, it can be disadvantageous because we may be required to buy something, even if we do not want to. Also, it could only be minimum amounts of cash that could be burdened with extra fees depending on the merchant, and finally, there is a limited amount that we can withdraw.
