You’ve probably shopped at Ralphs if you live in or have visited Southern California. When shopping, we like to receive the most pleasant attention and pay quickly; the latter is possible if the store relies on payment methods such as Apple Pay.
Apple Pay is a contactless payment method that makes shopping faster at checkout. It would be wise to know whether Ralphs accepts Apple Pay as a payment method next time we go.
Does Ralphs accept Apple Pay?
Since Apple Pay was released, Ralphs has not added it to its payment methods, and they seemingly do not plan to change this. This restriction applies to in-store purchases and through the online platform.
Apple Pay is not the only e-wallet platform the store does not support, nor is it possible to pay for your purchases with Google Pay or Samsung, except for one.
Ralphs is Kroger’s largest subsidiary, but this is not an impediment for it to accept Apple Pay. On the other hand, the other subsidiaries don’t take it either.
Why doesn’t Ralphs accept Apple Pay like many other stores? Is there something wrong with the app?
The answer is simple: they created their app. Ralphs entered the world of secure contactless payments, without an intermediary, by making their mobile wallet app, Kroger Pay.
Kroger Pay can be used at almost all its subsidiaries’ outlets, including Ralphs. However, none of the gas stations or pharmacy drive-thru lanes accept Kroger Pay.
Some smaller stores do not have the technology to accept contactless payments, so you should check online before making purchases.
They don’t accept new payment types because they realized that few people handle Apple Pay. Also, they wanted to ensure the security of their customers by taking full responsibility for the app.
Kroger’s wallet works the same way as the others and allows you to link multiple credit or debit cards to your account. You can select one card as the default when making your payments.
How can I pay for my purchases at Ralphs?
Although you can’t pay with Apple Pay, you can use Kroger Pay if you don’t want to carry your wallet everywhere and prefer a contactless payment method.
However, if you prefer more conventional payment methods, you can opt for credit and debit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. They also accept WIC, SNAP, EBT, and gift cards.
Kroger Pay vs. Apple Pay
Kroger Pay can only be used at Kroger subsidiaries, including Ralphs, while Apple Pay is accepted at many stores. Both wallets allow linking any debit or credit card.
On the other hand, Ralphs rewards customers who use Kroger Pay with offers and coupons. Rewards are accrued at point-of-sale without the need for a card.
Customers who use the Kroger family of card payment options, Kroger Rewards debit card, and Rewards credit card are also rewarded. They can earn points to purchase fuel and products.
Apple Pay users must scan their cards before paying; otherwise, they will lose accumulated points. Kroger Pay is much easier to use. You must open the app and scan the QR code on the reader at checkout. Also, this app is available for Android and iOS, so no brand limitation on Apple products exists to shop at Kroger outlets.
How can I start using Kroger Pay?
Using Kroger Pay is easy and fast, almost as quick as using Apple Pay. You must first have a digital account with one of Kroger’s subsidiaries and then download the app through your iOS or Android device.
After downloading the app, you can access and log in with your digital account if Kroger Pay is available in your area. You will need to verify your phone number and create a four-digit PIN.
To secure your wallet, you can activate your phone with facial or fingerprint recognition features. Select your preferred store under “Buy from” on the home page. Here you can also check which Kroger subsidiaries accept Kroger Pay.
Save the credit or debit cards to your digital wallet, then enter the PIN you created or use biometrics, and you will see your cards on the screen. You can choose a default payment method and change it whenever you want.
In addition, you can also add cards from the Kroger product family. You can use this digital wallet by logging in through the app or online.
I’ve downloaded the app; How do I pay at Ralphs?
After you have set up the digital wallet, you can start using it. When you are at the cash register about to pay for your purchase, access the Kroger Pay app, log in and enter your PIN or biometric data.
A QR code will appear on the device, and you will need to use it on the item scanner. The cashier will then scan the items in your purchase, and you will be able to verify your order before finalizing the transaction.
