You may be looking to save money by subscribing to DoorDash’s DashPass service, but you may not know how much it costs and how much you are saving.
It is very important to do the proper research before adding any service subscription to your card, as well as study its benefits and how it works, among other things.
DashPass cost
The price of DashPass will depend on whether you want to purchase the standard or the student plan. The standard plan costs $96 per year, while the student plan is half the price at $48 per year.
To enjoy this service, you must add your credit card to DoorDash and sign up for DashPass. Then, the fees will be automatically deducted through it.
Does DashPass save money?
Suppose you will pay the subscription to use it monthly continuously, definitely yes. By purchasing DashPass, both delivery and tax fees are substantially reduced.
You can get free delivery if your order meets the minimum requirements to acquire DashPass benefits. The amount is $12 for take-out and $25 for grocery orders.
This way, you would save the original delivery fee of a minimum of $3.99. On the other hand, taxes are reduced from $8.51 to $5.04, so here you would also be saving money.
So in conclusion, each order would be around $5.04, and you would be saving approximately $7.46 per order. In other words, if you place two monthly orders, you would save $14.92, which in a year would be $179.04, thus recovering the subscription amount.
These amounts do not account for the driver’s tip, as it is up to the user to decide whether to leave one or not and if so how much they leave.
DashPass charge
The fee charges, either annual or monthly, will be collected through the credit card you have linked to your DoorDash account.
However, if you are not a subscriber and are being notified of an unknown DoorDash charge of the above amounts on your statement, there are several potential reasons. Some things to keep in mind are:
Who has access to your account, as perhaps a family member has subscribed with your card information. You might want to consider all parties you have shared your card information with.
The bank statement should say DoorDash DashPass, or just DashPass to ensure the discount was from DoorDash. You can verify by logging in to Manage DashPass Banner and reviewing your billing history.
How much is DashPass per month?
Similarly, the annual amount will depend on whether you choose the standard or the student plan. For the standard plan, the monthly amount is $9.99, and for the student plan, it is $4.99.
Taking the annual fee and dividing it between each month, we can see that the amounts would be $8 for the standard and $4 for the student.
Thus we can conclude that if you use the application continuously, it is better to pay the annual fee since you would be saving money.
Does DoorDash offer free trials for DashPass?
The answer is yes. However, it does not apply to all users. Only subscribers who have not used the Unlimited service can enjoy the free trial.
If you meet this requirement, you can proceed to purchase it. To do so, you must first add a payment method and choose the membership plan you wish to pay for.
At the end of the trial period, the plan will be automatically deducted from the payment method you have added to your account and will renew on the billing date until you wish to cancel the membership.
How can I start ordering from DoorDash using the DashPass service?
You can use it through the DoorDash application or the website. Once you are logged in, select the restaurant of your choice and ensure it has a green check mark. Restaurants with this check mark are the only ones that accept DashPass.
Once you make sure it has the check mark, choose the restaurant and add the desired items to the cart until you reach the required amount needed for DashPass payments.
Otherwise, the amount remaining to reach the minimum will be displayed on the checkout page. You will be able to see the savings throughout the page.
