DoorDash remains steadfast in its unwavering commitment to combating hunger and driving positive change in the restaurant industry by advocating for healthier food options and raising awareness about the paramount importance of good nutrition.
This transformative journey began in earnest in 2018 with the inception of Project DASH, a visionary initiative that has since become the cornerstone of their philanthropic efforts. Project DASH is a testament to the food delivery service‘s dedication to being a force for good. Its overarching mission extends beyond merely providing meals to those Americans and Canadians in need.
Instead, it seeks to empower food banks, nonprofit organizations, and socially conscious partners while harnessing DoorDash’s logistical expertise to orchestrate the efficient and widespread distribution of charitable sustenance.
What is Project DASH and what is it for?
As mentioned above, Project DASH helps bring food to needy people by partnering with food banks and other groups through its delivery system to give charitable food and essential items. Since its inception, Project DASH has achieved a monumental milestone, orchestrating the delivery of more than 80 million meals to communities disproportionately affected by food insecurity.
These communities include those with a higher concentration of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) recipients, senior citizens who may have difficulty securing regular meals, and people with disabilities who often have limited access to vital resources.
DoorDash’s collaborations during “Hunger Action Month”
During Hunger Action Month and tireless efforts to improve food accessibility, DoorDash has formed strategic partnerships that amplify its impact, like it has done with DashMart recently. It engages in several initiatives to address food insecurity, which we have already mentioned, but let’s take a deeper and more detailed look at each industry of the Food Delivery Platform .
DoorDash collaborates with the Ford Motor Company Fund to support local delivery of charitable food. Through this partnership, DoorDash helps food banks in Detroit, Louisville, Memphis, and West Tennessee deliver food and essential items directly to households in need at no cost. In Canada, the San Francisco-based company partners with Haven on the Queensway to provide food and critical things to older adults and new mothers experiencing food insecurity in Toronto.

In addition, DoorDash partners with Major League Soccer (MLS) standout DeAndre Yedlin from Inter Miami to highlight the work of Project DASH partner LifeNet4Families. The food ordering and delivery platform supports Yedlin’s commitment to impacting the local community and donates $10,000 to LifeNet4Families to combat food insecurity.
DoorDash, aware of the critical role public assistance programs play in the fight against food insecurity, has taken an essential step. They have introduced SNAP/EBT payment options in collaboration with grocery partners. This enables people to use their SNAP benefits to access fresh groceries through local delivery. DoorDash is committed to expanding SNAP/EBT grocery delivery to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Since 2018, DoorDash has been committed to removing obstacles to food accessibility and supporting communities in need through its Project DASH initiative. This program has grown exponentially yearly and has helped thousands of individuals and families access affordable, healthier food options.
By partnering with local restaurants and community organizations, the platform founded by Tony Xu, Stanley Tang, Andy Fang, and Evan Moore can provide resources and support to those most in need. Through Project DASH, DoorDash positively impacts countless people’s lives by ensuring they access nutritious and affordable food (which is not exactly the same as the most purchased food at DoorDash in 2024).
