Pi Kappa Alpha, also called PIKE, is an international men’s fraternity founded in 1868 at the University of Virginia. Pi Kappa Alpha is committed to developing men of intellect, integrity, high moral character and fostering a lifelong fraternal experience. It provides a pathway for educational and leadership opportunities.
The Memorial headquarters is located in Memphis, TN and is home to the international fraternity and foundation staffs and was built to be a memorial to the brothers who gave their lives in defense of their country.
PIKE not only cultivates a well-rounded man but challenges its members to be the pillars of integrity and beacons of success. PIKES are dedicated to being Scholars, Leaders, Athletes and Gentlemen, and it is Pi Kappa Alpha’s tagline “SLAG”. PIKES continue to impact their campuses and their communities positively and strive to be the best men throughout their lives.
Pi Kappa Alpha’s mission is to provide academic scholarships and build an endowment for future generations. It aims to establish educational space in PIKE chapter houses and preserve educational books, war records and artwork for patriotic and historical reach archives. Pi Kappa Alpha awards grants for collegiate education and leadership training, including PIKE University. Its mission is to maintain Memorial Headquarters and honor PIKE members who gave their lives in military and defense services.
Pi Kappa Alpha helps its members to excel academically through educational programs, mentor programs, minimum GPA standards, and PIKE University events. Pike encourages its members to be the best student. It also lays strong emphasis on scholarships and educating its members both inside the classroom as well as outside.
Its official colors are garnet and old gold. The official flower of Pi Kappa Alpha is Lily-of-the-valley. Shield and Diamond is its official magazine.

Requirements
The prerequisites for membership include:
- The candidate must be a male
- His minimum age should be 16 years
- He should have good academic standing
- He should never have been initiated as a member of any existing national/international, general, secret or non-secret social college fraternity.
- Candidate’s willingness to commit to Pi Kappa Alpha’s policies and procedures
- Ready to accept a lifelong commitment to Pi Kappa Alpha
- Individual’s character should be compatible with the fraternity’s ideals and should be personally acceptable to the respective chapter membership.
How To Join
There are two types of membership: collegiate chapter and alumni. Each chapter makes an effort to recruit and pledge prospective student members from varied backgrounds. No discrimination is made based on color, caste, race, creed, religion, disability, sexual orientation and national origin.
A person willing to become a member can apply for membership by filling the “Become a Member” form online. One can also recommend a potential member by filling the “Recommend a Potential PIKE” form online. New members are also recruited through recruitment events.

In House: $2,490 (includes a meal plan, parking)
Out of House: $1,390 (includes meal plan)
New Member: $1,200
University Housing costs are charged separately on the student’s account.
