Sigma Alpha Pi, more commonly known as “The National Society of Leadership and Success” or its abbreviation NSLS, is a massive honor society with over 1.3 million members at more than 722 chapters.
According to their website, the NSLS exists to “recognize, cultivate and honor leaders, all while making lasting, positive change in the world.” So, pretty much what most fraternity or donor societies claim to offer.
How to get into Sigma Alpha Pi?
Compared to some of the other major fraternities, Sigma Alpha Pi is incredibly easy to get into. If you are an American college student with a good GPA, there’s a high chance you’ve already received an invitation letter from your local chapter. The society is known for its cold recruiting, which is somehow frowned upon by more prestigious fraternity but leads to their substantial member numbers and widespread presence on college campuses across the entire U.S.
Sigma Alpha Pi also differs from many other organizations. It is a for-profit corporation. Many reviews online describe it as semi-legitimate and just putting a logo on your resume, as society does not offer many activities you’d usually expect from fraternities.
Even though the society does not offer many perks by itself, it can always be a net positive to associate yourself with a top society or fraternity. With 1.3 million active members, you are bound to run into some Sigma Alpha Pi brothers and sisters at some point. After all, the purpose of most fraternities is simply networking.
