Delta Gamma is a sorority formed in 1873 at Lewis School for Girls in Oxford, Mississippi with the purpose of doing good. It is an international women’s organization and a National Panhellenic Conference member.
The values the organization upholds are outlined in Article II of the Delta Gamma Constitution. In a nutshell, it is to foster friendship, promote educational, cultural and social interests, create a sense of social responsibility among women and develop exceptional qualities of character. The purpose of the organization is to do good and exists to empower women.
The symbol of Delta Gamma is the anchor, which is an age-old symbol of hope. The official flower is the cream-colored rose. The colors of the organization are bronze, pink and blue. The badge of the Delta Gamma fraternity is a golden anchor. The journal of the fraternity is called the ANCHORA.
The organization is committed to diversity, inclusivity and creating an equitable environment for its women and communities. It does not discriminate based on ethnicity, color, national origin, creed, sexual orientation, race, religion, physical disability, marital status or other protected identities.
Requirements to Join
The membership is open to all women who desire to uphold its shared values. A woman of good character and standing can become a member of Delta Gamma. She is also required to meet one of the following criteria:
- A woman should be registered for a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent course.
- She should be a non-collegiate member of a group chartered by petition, or she should be an alumna initiate of a petitioning or established group.
- She should demonstrate a strong relationship with the Delta Gamma fraternity. She should also have a desire to fulfil a unique role in support of a collegiate chapter or alumnae chapter or in support of the association.
- She should not be an initiated member of any other National Panhellenic Conference member group.
How to Join
Delta Gamma recruits new members through three processes:

Primary Recruitment
It is an organized process through which new collegiate members are recruited on college campuses. The collegiate Panhellenic organization or the Delta Gamma chapter office on the campus decides the dates and the recruitment process.

Continuous Open Bidding
It is an informal recruitment process through which vacancies that arise during the year are filled. You can contact the sorority/Fraternity office or the collegiate chapter to know if Delta Gamma participates in Continuous Open Bidding.

Alumna Initiate Program
Women can become a member of Delta Gamma even after their collegiate years through Alumna Initiate Program. Under this program, an invitation of membership is extended to select women who are interested in joining Delta Gamma.
How Much it Costs to Join
Chapter fees and dues vary across universities and are based on the size of the chapter, housing status, and activities.
Each new member is required to pay standard fees to Executive Offices. These fees are mentioned below and are included in the chapter fees but are not the total amount of chapter fees. The standard dues and fees are as follows:
- New Member Fee- $45 (One-time fee)
- Initiation Fee- $135 (One-time fee)
- Technology Fee- $22 (To be paid once a year)
- Per Capita Dues- $90 (To be paid once a year)
- Chapter Operation Fees- The amount vary as per the chapter’s operational needs
- House Corporation Fee- The amount is based on the property status.
