Cable television is an alternative with many different channels for viewers to enjoy satellite television with pre-recorded and live programs. With satellite TV, you can watch programs not only from the United States but also from different countries, depending on your chosen plan.
However, with the advent of streaming systems, you will likely want to cancel the service. Cox provides its services to the American community, including cable television, Internet services, local telephony, and Internet security.
Despite having all these services, it’s a known fact that the United States has endless options, so it is possible you may want to change operators. So let’s see what happens if you were to cancel your contract with Cox.
Cox Communications
Cox Communications is a telecommunications company located in the United States. It started as a cable television system until it integrated several other areas and became the first cable television operator to offer telephone services.
With the advanced technology, Cox could incorporate cable and satellite Internet among its services. Cox communications has about 6.5 million users, making it the 7th largest telecommunications company in the United States.
How to cancel Cox services?
To cancel your Cox Communications service, you can go to any Cox location and ask a service agent to cancel your cable TV or Internet service Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm or on Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Another option if you cannot find a Cox store near your home is to call the customer service number +1-800-234-3993.
When you call, the automated service will ask you to enter the 10-digit phone number, then choose from the menu the option to speak to an operating agent, who will assist you and cancel the service.
Cox services are independent, so if you want to cancel one of the services, it does not mean that the other ones will be automatically removed, i.e., you can cancel the TV service and keep the Cox Internet.
After canceling the services, the equipment must be returned within ten business days. If the equipment is not returned within ten business days, the company has the right to charge extra fees. The equipment includes the cables.
Do I have to pay for canceling Cox?
Before deciding to cancel your Cox Communications services, you should know that you may have to pay a cancellation fee if you terminate your contract early.
Cox offers contracts from 12 to 24 months or two years. However, if the customer wants to terminate the contract early, the user must pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF) tax. If the customer cancels before one year, a $120 tax is paid; if the customer cancels a 2-year contract, a $240 tax is paid.
Can I cancel Cox if I’m renting the service?
If you do not have the service installed but are instead renting a TV with the service or portable Internet hardware, you can simply return the equipment to a Cox store to stop using the service.
Can I pause my Cox service without paying?
Cox has a seasonal schedule, where residential customers have the opportunity to suspend their service for anywhere from 1 month to 9 months. Instead of paying the entire Cox bill, you can pay monthly fees of $9.99 for suspended services.
Multiple Cox accounts can be suspended, but each is separate, i.e., if you pause your Internet and phone service, you must pay $9.99 for each.
To request a temporary suspension of any services, contact a Cox store or call +1-866-936-7123.
