U.S. supercenter chain Meijer currently carries out a mission to “create a safe shopping experience for our customers and offer products and services to help our customers lead healthier lives.” For this purpose, it offers services such as Apple Pay to facilitate the consumer experience.
Meijer is increasingly committed to connecting with all kinds of customers. What started as a grocery store is now a multifaceted place where you can purchase many items essential to Americans. In addition to the convenience of the Meijer experience, Apple Pay steps in to provide security and convenience.
Apple Pay for Meijer
Meijer is not a specialize store; it is a one-stop shop that seeks to generate more links with customers to better position itself in the market and become the first choice of Americans. That is why it has grown in departments, services, and options.
Today, Meijer manages a range of payment method options, including Apple Pay; it is possible to use the Apple Pay payment system both in physical stores and in the app and website.
Of course, to use the payment system, it is necessary to have linked one or more accounts in the app wallet. Additionally, some gas stations allow payment through Apple Pay, specifically in the Meijer 24-hour gas station.
Meijer’s App
If you want to make a payment with Apple Pay virtually, select your items; once you place your order, the page will display the available options; among them, the Apple logo represents Apple Pay. When you click on this option, the receipt will appear underneath the fingerprint to verify that the user associated with Apple Pay has made the payment. Once verified, the transaction will be effective.
You can also prepay for items through the website or the app so that the physical store will have them ready for delivery. This option is also available with Apple Pay.
Meijer’s Shops and Self Checkout
In Meijer’s physical stores, there are two payment methods, both of which accept payment via Apple Pay. The first option is to go to a traditional checkout; the second is a separate option called Self Checkout.
The checkout payment is simple; after all items are checked, and the invoice is generated, the point-of-sale reader will show the final amount. The customer only has to access the wallet, select from which account they want to withdraw the money or if they want to pay directly from the wallet, and place the phone on top of the reader. The transaction will go through, and the money will be deducted from Apple Pay to be received in Meijer’s system.
However, the self-checkout method consists of individual cashiers where the customer is responsible for scanning their items and paying independently. To pay by Apple Pay, the buyer reviews the invoice generated by the automatic checkout after scanning and presents the application so that the smart checkout reads that this is the payment method.
The customer can set the Apple Pay app as the default payment method at the self-checkout screen. When it is predetermined, the traditional checkout process is repeated. Open the wallet and place the phone or Apple Watch on the reader to complete the transaction.
Other payments methods in Meijer
The supercenter chain offers other payment methods in its physical stores, gas pumps, and app. Among them are cash, debit or credit cards, gift cards, and other 2P2 payments, such as Samsung Pay and Google Pay.
Benefits of using Apple Pay in Meijer
Meijer aims to achieve customer convenience that results in a higher positioning in the American market. Because of that, using Apple Pay provides them with benefits to achieve their goal.
Fee
It is common to have to pay an extra tax on traditional platforms such as credit or debit cards. Since there are additional fees for each POS use, the business must charge an extra fee per transaction, resulting in a slightly higher expense for the customer than pricetags sum up.
Apple Pay Cash does not apply this bank fee. Therefore, no additional money will be deducted other than the products’ worth.
Security and convenience
One of the things that a customer is looking for is to feel comfortable and safe in an establishment; thanks to the Apple Pay system, it is not necessary to present any card or identification; on the contrary, the only thing you need is a cell phone or Apple Watch. You can go without purses or wallets and still achieve your purchases while improving the checkout experience.
Additionally, it would lower the possibility of theft or robbery of personal documents. Apple is obliged to keep the data private, which means that the store does not have access to the payment data.
For even more convenience, Apple Pay is directly linked to an iCloud, so it automatically verifies that the money belongs to the person who is paying, which helps to reduce fraud.
More versatility, better experience
The more the customers feel heard and helped, the more comfortable they will feel in the business and create a bond with the establishment, creating loyalty when choosing among the different chains in the country.
Allowing customers to have a wide range of payment method options, which not all businesses apply, makes the Meijer on-stop shop more attractive. The more versatility, the better the customer experience.
Apple Pay is a convenient and simple option that can help develop the customer-business link that will naturally elevate Meijer’s position it in the supercenter market.
