Nordstrom has been recognized around the world for its lenient return policies. The company is one of the largest retailers in the country and, like many others, it offers its customers the ability to get a branded credit card to make purchases.
Furthermore, by being part of this retailer, you can access their rewards program, a great option when you are an active shopper at the store. There are two types of brand credit cards, the first is closed-loop, and the second is open-loop.
How to get the Nordstrom credit card?
You can choose to apply for your credit card in two different ways, online or in person. Before you use it, you need to check your credit report and ensure there are no errors.
To apply through Nordstrom’s online page, go to the retailer’s website and click “Apply Now.” A form will appear where you must enter some financial and personal information.
You need to add information such as your social security number; you can also use your driver’s license, passport, state ID, military ID, or green card, any of which will serve to prove your identity.
When you fill in all the appropriate information, the terms and conditions will appear; after reading it, you can press “accept and apply.” When you are approved for your card, you will receive an additional Nordstrom Notes certificate and will be given $40 to use as you wish.
Applying for a Nordstrom credit card in person
As mentioned before, you have the option to apply in person; go to the store closest to your location. You can find the stores near you through the store’s online page.
You must bring the identification you will use in the application and your Social Security number, date of birth, and all income information. Upon arrival, you will be given a document to fill out with your financial and personal information and to return to the agent in charge.
Types
You have different options for your credit card, and all of them are related to some benefits like they are free of annual fees, points earned for each purchase, offer customer service around the clock and any day of the week, and have a potential $40 bonus for becoming a member.
Despite that, each has different benefits; some specific features of each card are:
Nordstrom Retail Card
The first option is the store’s retail card; you can only use it at one of their stores or affiliated brands. Related stores include HauteLook, Nordstrom Rack, and Trunk Club.
Among its benefits, you find that you earn two points for every dollar spent and have an interest rate of 23.90% APR.
Nordstrom Visa Platinum Card
This card is offered to store members and can be used in any establishment where Visa payments are received. Some benefits include emergency card replacement and enjoying a waiver in case of damage from rental car collisions.
In addition, you’ll earn reward points for every dollar you spend at stores besides Nordstrom. Their interest rate stands at 11.90% and 23.90 APR for in-store purchases and 15.90 and 23.90 when purchases are at another location. It’s also worth mentioning that the APR changes depending on your credit score.
Nordstrom Visa Signature Card
When you opt for the Nordstrom Visa Platinum credit card, you’re automatically considered for the Nordstrom Visa Signature card. The interest rate and rewards are the same as the Visa Platinum card.
However, it has additional benefits such as concierge service, lost luggage reimbursement, roadside assistance, purchase protection, travel accident insurance, and warranty management service.
The Nordstrom Visa Signature Card is the strongest option of the three, especially if you are a frequent shopper.
